While working as a librarian at the Albuquerque, NM. Public Library in 2021, I found a book at our weekly book sale titled “Earthlike Planets” by Bruce C. Murray, published by WH Freeman & CO, 1981. I became enamored by the book’s language used in describing the aging and formation of
planetary bodies. The book also describes how resources on moons and other planets could potentially be extracted, monetized, and possibly, inhabited by humans.
When redacted and rearranged, these same words of scientific research and speculation mimic the aging and weathering of our own bodies, as well as the continued existential concerns of our earth and the human condition today. Each poem and collage contained in this publication are unique collages on paper and silver gelatin prints.
